Coach Azraai quits

Former international fails to lift Red Warriors

PETALING JAYA: Mohd Azraai Khor is no longer Kelantan coach.

The former international resigned yesterday following a string of poor results. The last straw came in Kelantan’s 3-0 defeat by Lions XII at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore on Saturday. The Red Warriors are now placed a lowly 10th in the 12-team Super League with 11 points from 12 matches.

The east coast giants only have three wins. Their last win was a 2-1 victory over Selangor in Kota Baru on April 25.

Azraai was the second coach for Kelantan this season. He was roped in to replace Dutchman George Boateng in March.

When contacted, the 63-year-old Azraai refused to state his reasons for quitting. He only confirmed his resignation in a text message.

Azraai was successful in his stints with Kedah (2004-2008) and Negri Sembilan (2011-2012), but he ended his last two seasons with Perak (2012-2013) and T-Team (2013-2014) empty-handed.

Six coaches have resigned or asked to take leave in the M-League this season. Earlier, Terengganu’s Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, Boateng, B. Sathianathan of Armed Forces, Bojan Hodak of Johor Darul Ta’zim and Kuantan FA’s Aminuddin Hussein were the casualties.
