T-Team skipper Oniya finally laid to rest

SEREMBAN: The remains of the late T-Team skipper David Faramola Oniya was buried at the Sikamat Christian Cemetery here at 11.30am on Saturday.

The hearse, carrying his remains from the Kuala Lumpur Internatio­nal Airport, arrived at the cemetery at 11am where about 20 of his team-mates and players from other teams were waiting to pay their last respects.

Oniya’s elder brother, Adefaramad­e Oniya, 34, and his agent, Felix Obina, 31, and the T-Team management were also present.

Oniya, 30, died of heart complicati­ons on June 13 and his remains were at the Raja Perempuan Zainab 11 Hospital in Kota Baru, Kelantan.

Adefaramad­e said all the funeral arrangemen­ts were made and financed by the T-Team management and the state government of Terengganu with the cooperatio­n of the Nigerian embassy in Kuala Lumpur. – Bernama
