Khairul fails to take podium in Spain

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Khairul Idham Pawi’s impressive podium run came to an end in the fourth round of the FIM CEV Moto3 Junior World Championsh­ip at the Motorland Aragon Circuit in Spain.

The 16-year-old rookie, who made the podium in the first three rounds, finished ninth in Race 1 and was sixth in Race 2 yesterday.

The Honda Team Asia rider’s failure to be on the podium yesterday saw him slip a rung to third in the overall standings with 80 points.

Spaniard Joan Mir Mayrata, who won both races yesterday, is second on 100 points. Fellow Spaniard Aron Canet is leading the championsh­ip with 106 points.
