MCA president Liow pledges to improve delivery services to the people

-

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai says he will do his utmost to improve the life of the people via initiatives to encourage economic growth.

In his Chinese New Year message, the Transport Minister also pledged that he will champion improving delivery services to the people via agencies under the ministry.

He also said he was confident that despite the great challenges ahead, Malaysians were capable of overcoming them.

Below is his full message:

Gong Xi Fa Cai to my fellow Malaysians! As a new lunar year dawns on us, let us together look forward with hope, courage and a determination to seize the opportunities that await.

May the Year of the Monkey bring luck, joy and good fortune so that we may together create a better tomorrow for all.

Improving the lives of Malaysians is a personal goal of mine and one that is shared by the Government as well.

At ministry-level, I have championed improved delivery of service for the benefit of the rakyat particularly via the agencies under the ministry’s purview.

Similarly at MCA, we are working hard to better the quality of life of Malaysians via initiatives that will encourage economic growth.

Last year, we launched the third phase of our MCA Transformation Plan, the 10 Strategic Economic Directions.

As a result of the core initiative under this third phase, the Belt & Road initiative, MCA has been facilitating trade relations as well as pulling in investments into the country to advance the local economy.

Clearly, MCA is open to transforming for the better and in turn becoming true representatives of the Chinese community, championing the rights of all Malaysians.

Furthermore, the establishment of the Asean Economic Community (AEC) and the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) holds immense potential for us.

Malaysia stands to thrive alongside our neighbours as intra-Asean as well as international trade expands and businesses are encouraged to develop.

Indeed, the opportunities under the One Belt One Road initiative, together with the AEC as well as the TPPA, are vast.

As we look towards working together for our nation’s growth, we must not forget to also guard our nation against the dangers of radicalism.

The ISIS (IS) threat continues to be prevalent. Together, we must be vigilant against those who threaten the peace of our nation and the world.

While many challenges may lie ahead, I am confident Malaysians will have the determination to overcome them.

May the advent of a new lunar year inspire us to be open-minded and compassionate in our undertakings.

To everyone travelling during the holidays, remember to stay safe on the road and rest at regular intervals if you are planning a long drive.

Happy Chinese New Year!
