Follow great example set by eco World

ECO World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld) must be highly commended for its significant contribution to society through various projects aimed at improving the quality of life of underprivileged Malaysians.

The villagers of Kampung Sri Sentosa, Ijok, Kuala Selangor were badly affected by the recent floods. They had to wade through waist-deep water to get to the main road.

When the situations worsened the people had to be evacuated to two relief centres.

Their predicament caught the attention of Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, chairman of Eco World Foundation, the charitable arm of EcoWorld. He mobilised some 30 volunteers from EcoWorld who repaired the access road and also cleaned the affected houses.

The foundation also presented schoolbags and mattresses to the villagers. It is commendable that the project which solved the villagers’ problems was completed within two weeks at a cost of RM15,000.

The villagers expressed their gratitude to EcoWorld for its quick response to their dilemma.

It made a tremendous impact on their daily lives.

The foundation also provides financial assistance to about 3,000 underprivileged schoolchildren under its students aid programme.

During the East Coast floods last year, a group of volunteers from EcoWorld provided substantial assistance to flood victims in Manek Urai in Kelantan (pic).

It is hoped that other businesses, as part of their corporate social responsibility, will respond to the immediate needs of the community, particularly during difficult times.
