Chef Adu’s enticing way to win
Fans who cast the most votes for him will be invited to his cafe
PETALING JAYA: Chef Adu Amran Hassan vying to win the Anugerah Pilihan Online (APO2016) chosen celebrity chef category has come up with a novel strategy to win the contest.
The loyal fans who cast the most votes for him in the upcoming Malay Awards show will be invited to his newest cafe The Canteen by Chef Adu.
The inaugural APO2016 is jointly hosted by Star Media Group’s Malaylanguage portal mStar Online and radio station Suria FM in recognition of the importance of digital media and the individuals who have made a difference on the platform.
Che Adu said the move was not only a strategy but a way to express his gratitude for the unwavering support of his fans during his entire career.
“Those who vote and diligently campaign for others to vote for me may get an invite to eat at my cafe,” he said during the recent APO2016 Nominee Announcement for each of the 17 categories .
Che Adu, who was born in Kluang, Johor said he was surprised to have been among the five chefs nominated under the category.
“I had to ask the organisers if it was true because I was afraid they had sent me a message by mistake. It really was a surprise,” he said.
His new cafe, located in the National Textile Museum near Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, opens its door this Sunday.
Besides Chef Adu, the others selected for the category are Chef Azli Razali, Chef Fazley Yaakob, Chef Nik Michael dan Chef Wan.
The second phase of voting started on April 1 and the public have until April 27 to cast their votes online at apo.mstar.com.my in all the categories.
The APO 2016 awards night is scheduled to take place on April 30 at Auditorium Perdana, Angkasapuri, and the event will be broadcast live on TV2 starting from 9pm.
The winner for each category will receive a trophy, a gift from the main sponsor Dnars, a pearl necklace sponsored by Rafflesia, an Ice Watch along with accommodation and dinner at Dorsett Hotel Putrajaya.
