CYBERJAYA: Businesses in Cyberjaya will have superfast Internet speed, now that the place is wired with a broadband service that goes up to 1Gbps (one gigabit per second).

The Aries Infinity service, provided by Aries Telecoms (M) Bhd, claims to be “the region’s fastest” and runs on the latest Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) technology.

The fibre optics infrastructure currently covers about 90% of commercial buildings in Cyberjaya.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said the Government lauded efforts by Malaysian companies to provide Internet services on the latest IPv6 platform.

“As the world today is preparing for the transition from Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) to IPv6, our Government recognises the importance of IPv6’s adoption to the country’s development.

“Efforts by companies such as Aries Telecoms in launching this Aries Infinity service is very much welcomed,” said Dr Salleh in his speech at the product launch yesterday.

He expressed hope that the service would not just be limited to businesses but also expanded to schools and homes.

“Choosing Cyberjaya as the nation’s first location to be equipped with the fastest broadband service will definitely elevate Cyberjaya’s reputation as a global technology hub.

“I urge more businesses to take advantage of these new facilities and make Cyberjaya the operational hub for their businesses,” he said.

Aries Telecoms chairman Datuk Zuraidi Rahim said about 250km of fibre optic infrastructure has been laid out in Cyberjaya for the service, under a collaboration between his company and Setia Haruman Technology Sdn Bhd (SH Tech).

“The fibre optics cover 90% of the buildings in Cyberjaya, thus making the 1 Gig Infinity Broadband readily available for business users and enabling more smart city projects and Internet of Things (IoT) applications to be deployed in Cyberjaya.”

The company invested about RM1bil to lay down the infrastructure over the years.

The Aries Infinity package is available for businesses in Cyberjaya at the price of RM5,000 a month.
