The Star Education Fair has proven to be one of the most effective platforms for students to explore education options all under one roof.

Students can visit the Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences’ (CUCMS) booth to understand more about their areas of interest.

CUCMS visiting professor Datuk Dr Mahmood Nazar Mohamed who will speak on behalf of the Psychology & Counselling Department, said students can take the CUCMS Career Personality Test known as the “Career Compass”, during the fair.

“Students are required to answer about 20 questions that will assess their personality type, strengths, weaknesses and preferences,” he said.

This, he added, will help students understand what drives and motivates them, as well as which career path is most suited to them.

Students would only need to spend between 10 to 15 minutes on the Career Compass before consulting a professional counsellor on the spot.

“The test will be conducted online to enable students to print their results immediately.

“They will then proceed to meet a professional counsellor on a one-to-one basis who will explain the findings of the results,” said Dr Mahmood Nazar.

He said personality tests are helpful as it can help a student select a study programme or a future career that is more in keeping with their personality, internal motivations and interest.

“This ensures a higher chance of achieving success,” he said.

The test may even expose the students to aspects about themselves that they did not even know they had, Dr Mahmood Nazar added.

The Star Education Fair 2016 will be held at exhibition halls four and five at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 10am to 6pm on on June 11 and 12. Admission is free. For more information, log on to facebook.com/stareducationfair.
