Work together to produce quality students

-

INSTITUTIONS of higher learning (IPT) ought to collaborate with world-class local industries to produce quality graduates, said Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.

Speaking to reporters after witnessing an exchange of memoranda of understanding between Les’ Copaque Production Sdn Bhd and five higher learning institutions, including a foreign university, Idris said the achievements of local companies in various fields should be seen as stepping stones for IPTs to improve their course syllabus and internship programmes.

He said these collaborations were in line with the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025 (Higher Education) which aims to produce highly employable graduates.

“We promote collaborations between universities and industries and this must be improved from time to time,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

According to Idris, Les' Copaque Production Sdn Bhd is an animation company that found success in producing 3D animated series which are now translated into various languages, proving Malaysian companies could be a force to be reckoned with internationally.

The five institutions are International Islamic College, College University Poly-Tech Mara (KUPTM), Gombak Vocational College, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris and Islamic University of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Les' Copaque’s managing director Burhanuddin Md Radzi said the MOU was aimed at sharing expertise and learning experience with the institutions in an effort to uplift the local animation industry. — Bernama
