no sweat, no stress during MuET lessons

- SItI AISIAH MOrNI Kuching, Sarawak

TEACHING is a noble job to me. Teachers educate, inculcate values, motivate and inspire their charges.

Teachers don’t want their students to fail. They try their best to guide their students in making decisions, in completing assignments and even how to learn.

Many students often think that their teachers are being difficult and mean when they give lots of homework, but I think they are just helping us to improve ourselves.

I’ve had some special teachers but my teacher idol – Madam Patricia Wong is who I want to thank.

Affectionately called Puan Pat, she teaches us MUET (Malaysian University English Test) at SMK Green Road, Kuching Sarawak.

For me, MUET is fun compared to the other subjects. When we first took MUET, we found it difficult to cope with all the skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing.

But Puan Pat has been able to teach us many techniques and tips for all the tests.

Every day we learn new words from her. Most of them are words we have never heard of before!

She would ask us the meaning of words that we’ve selected. Then she would write them at one corner of the board.

Whenever we make a mistake, she would correct us and make sure we learn from it.

Puan Pat is one of the most interesting persons I know. It is partly because she has travelled to many countries. Her interesting and quirky tales of places she’s been to not only keeps her listeners enthralled but makes them eager and curious to visit the sites.

MUET classes relieve stress as we can laugh, sing and joke after exams and homework.

So, teacher, I wish you “Happy Teachers Day!”
