A three-day Graduate Colloquium on Malaysian Studies at Ohio University will be held in September.
Prof Dr Jayum Jawan who holds the Tun Abdul Razak Chair at Ohio University, will host the colloquium.
The colloquium to be held from Sept 14 to 17, will bring together 26 graduate students currently undertaking their research leading to either a Master's degree or PhD in various fields with a Malaysian focus, according to a statement from the university located in Athens, Ohio.
"The main purpose of the graduate colloquium is to provide graduate students working on Malaysian topics the opportunity to come together, exchange views and share their research activities, along with providing the opportunity for internationalisation for their universities and global mobility," it said.
It said presenters would have the opportunity to interact with their peers, but the focus of the colloquium was to present and receive feedback from the Ohio University faculty.
"For the students, this provides good exposure as well as an opportunity to benchmark against others and international best practices in research, writing and publishing," it said.
The keynote address will be delivered by Prof Dr Md Amin Md Taff from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). He is also the director of Education Malaysia based in Washington.
Participants will include graduate candidates from Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and UPSI.
