Inter to make move for Chelsea target Cavani

-

LONDON: Inter Milan have tabled a £42mil (RM225mil) bid for Chelsea target Edinson Cavani.

Italian paper Corriere dello Sporto claim that Paris St Germain have rejected the bid, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s departure meaning that the Uruguay ace is likely to be heavily relied upon for the coming season.

But Inter are set to up their offer and are desperate to bring Cavani back to Serie A as they come to accept that Mauro Icardi wants a move to either Arsenal or Napoli.

Cavani’s former club Napoli are flush with cash after banking £75mil (RM41mil) from the sale of Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus.

And the dough will allow the Naples outfit to bid for Icardi, with that money helping finance a deal for Blues target Icardi.

Inter boss Roberto Mancini is reportedly expecting to hear in the next 72 hours whether over whether the club’s hierarchy will sanction deals for his top targets, which include Juve and Barcelona-linked Brazilian whizkid Gabigol.

Napoli have identified Lyon striker and Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette and Inter’s Stevan Jovetic as alternatives if they cannot gazump the Gunners to land Icardi.

A representative of Icardi – possibly his stunning wife Wanda Nara – is believed to be in London to hold talks with the North London club.

And wherever the Argentinian ends up, it would leave Inter with enough cash to make an improved offer for Cavani.
