PUTRAJAYA: A boy fell to his death from the third floor of his school when he tried to help retrieve a friend’s bag, leaving his family devastated.

Azim Hakimi Abu Shuja, 15, was trying to retrieve the bag that was apparently thrown out onto a ledge yesterday morning.

It is believed that Azim Hakimi lost his balance then.

When met at the Putrajaya Hospital mortuary, Azim Hakimi’s eldest brother, Muhammad Aliff, 28, said the boy was a quiet person who preferred to spend time at home.

“He was a good boy. He never created any problems. He never made any of us upset with him,” he said, adding that Azim Hakimi was also very helpful.

“He never said no to family members or relatives who asked for help,” said Muhammad Aliff.

Azim Hakimi is the youngest of four siblings.

Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm Rosly Hassan said that police had classified the case as sudden death.

He said that police had also recorded the statements of six other students to assist in investigations.

Azim Hakimi was buried yesterday evening at the Putrajaya Muslim Cemetery at Precinct 20 here after a post-mortem was carried out at Putrajaya Hospital.

More than 100 people including family members, relatives and fellow students paid their last respects.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, who visited the school yesterday, said the ministry would review the designs of school buildings to enhance safety measures.
