Spurs in talks about £150mil deal on stadium naming rights
LONDON: Tottenham Hotspur are discussing a £ 150mil (RM807mil) six-year deal with Qatar Investment Authority for the naming of their new stadium.
According to a report in The Times, Spurs are currently having their new stadium built up with the 2018-19 season being their expected opening date.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy (pic) is splashing around £400mil (RM2bil) to get a new home of 61,000 seats and he is looking for a main sponsor.
It is reported that the Qatar Investment Authority will probably terminate their partnership with Barcelona and the Nou Camp next summer. And Levy has jumped onto the occasion to attract the huge money men to north London.
Levy has also agreed a 10-year deal with the NFL to host at least two games per year, which should be another huge source of revenue.
White Hart Lane had one of its north corner demolished this summer to help constructions go quicker.
The new infrastructure is well under construction with the north end in advanced stage. Spurs are currently playing their Champions League nights at Wembley to meet UEFA requirements, which are impacted with works in and around White Hart Lane.
And the club have an additional option to play their English Premier League and Cup home games at Wembley for the 201718 season.
