Welsh legend Giggs in line to replace Guidolin at Swansea

-

LONDON: Swansea want Ryan Giggs (pic) to be their next manager.

The English Premier League strugglers are worried Italian veteran Francesco Guidolin is unable to keep them up and are setting up a move for the former Manchester United winger.

Supremo Huw Jenkins faces a tough decision as his club heads for a nightmare run of fixtures.

And Giggs will get the call after Jenkins meets the club’s new American owners over the weekend.

It would be a massive amble to appoint Giggs, whose only experience was as caretaker manager at Manchester United.

But he has a name and a presence that would lift the club – and will be up for the challenge.

Giggs, 42, would have to find an experienced assistant to help him in the tough opening weeks.

But he has contacts in the game and has worked with coaches at United who could help out.

Guidolin, 60, is rapidly running out of time to turn things around at the Liberty Stadium.

And bookies make him favourite to become the Premiership’s first managerial casualty of the season.

He is still struggling to communicate in English and summer signings Fernando Llorente, Borja Baston and Mike van der Hoorn have failed to fire.

Without a league win since the opening day victory at Burnley, Swansea now face Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal in their next three games.

The Swans were unable to land top targets Nacer Chadli, Joe Allen and Leonardo Ulloa to leave a fragile squad.

Manchester City – who beat Guidolin’s side 2-1 in the English League Cup – visit the Liberty again this weekend where defeat could drop Swansea into the bottom three.
