I thought it was a prank, says winner
Data manager wins pickup truck at expo
KUALA LUMPUR: The lucky winner of a brand new Isuzu D-Max pickup truck, Chen Siew Haan, thought it was a prank when told of the news.
“Are you kidding? Are you serious?” the 35-year-old data management specialist asked in bewilderment when Jason Yap, director of i.Star Ideas Factory Sdn Bhd, called her.
“This is the first time something like this has happened to me. It is amazing! I feel so happy!” Chen told The Star in a phone interview.
When asked whether she would drive the vehicle herself or give it to a loved one, she said: “I have to let it sink in first before I decide what to do with it!”
Chen was among the contestants of the Perfect Livin ’16 exhibition held from Oct 6 to 9 at Putra World Trade Center (PWTC). She will receive her prize from the organiser i.Star Ideas Factory today.
Two Isuzu D-Max vehicles, costing RM104,380 each (without insurance), are the prizes of the “Twin Treasures” contest.
Yesterday was the first day of a lucky draw that decided who the winner of one of the Isuzu D-Max trucks would be.
Cash vouchers worth RM100 to RM300 were also given to a number of shortlisted finalists.
The finalists were not the only ones who flocked to the exhibition yesterday.
Ranjit Singh, 59, who was looking for a sofa and a dining set, found the exhibition “fantastic”.
“The prices are competitive; they give good discounts here. The items are all quality goods, and that is what we want.”
Today, the second Isuzu D-Max will be given away to another of the shortlisted contestants.
In addition to that, an Isuzu MU-X SUV is up for grabs for qualifying contestants if they take a creative picture of themselves with the car.
The winner of the SUV will be announced in January.
