Malaysia to host BMW Golf Club International tourney
TPC Kuala Lumpur will be the host venue of this year’s BMW Golf Cup International tournament.
Now in its 10th year, the premium golfing event will have its finale contested on Nov 30.
The BMW Golf Cup International is among the world’s largest amateur tournaments and is open only to BMW owners who have purchased their vehicles from authorized dealers.
BMW Group Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Han Sang Yun said: “The BMW Golf Cup International series first teed off in Germany in 1987 and has since become one of the world’s most prestigious and successful amateur golf tournaments worldwide.
“Indeed, it has proven to be the benchmark for golf tournaments in Malaysia and around the globe.”
Han added: “Commitment to the game of golf is all about building trust through continuity, credibility, competence, skill and sophistication. These are some of the same traits that define BMW as a brand.
“This golfing event has also allowed winning teams to showcase their skills at the international stage, competing with champions at the World Final and proudly representing Malaysia.”
This year, the tournament in Malaysia will have eight qualifying legs and the national final. The tournament is split into Men’s A, Men’s B and Women.
Expanding on the reach of the tournament, a guest category and management and staff category have been introduced for the participation of BMW owners who have purchased their vehicles from non-BMW authorized dealers as well as management and staff of BMW Group Malaysia, BMW dealers or event partners.
As the main sponsor, BMW Credit will award a hole-in-one achiever with a new BMW 120i M Sport and an insurance premium at each qualifying leg, while the national final winner will receive a new BMW 730Li and an insurance premium.
This year’s golf event is supported by BMW Credit, The Edge Malaysia, Gatorade, Corum, Golf Digest, The Peak, Adidas, Harman Kardon, Illy, L’Occitane, Plaza Premium Lounge and Sunlight Limo.
