Dancing to raise funds for school
THE St Mary’s Alumni Club is organising “ZumBack to School”, a fund raising event to raise funds for the underprivileged primary and secondary students of St Mary’s School located at Taman Baiduri, Selayang.
The 90-minute Masterclass Zumba dance routine will be conducted by popular Zumba dance trainer and health enthusiasts, Veronica Shameny Whisky & Team.
Funds raised will be used to aid the school’s Breakfast Programme for the financially challenged students and to provide other welfare items such as uniform, shoes, prescription spectacles and study materials.
St Mary’s Alumni Club president Wan Mai Gan said the welfare programme was started in 2010 when the school celebrated its centenary. “We hope that by organising this ZumBack to School dance class, we will be able to help and reach out to more students who are financially challenged,” she said.
She said each ticket will feed two students for a month.
“One of the obstacles to learning is hunger. By providing breakfasts for hungry students, we make a huge difference in their alertness and learning ability,” she added.
Individuals and corporate organisations are also encouraged to sponsor underprivileged students to attend activities and recognition awards.
The ZumBack to School dance class will be conducted on Oct 22 from 9am to 12.30pm at St Mary’s Secondary School Hall, No. 7, Jalan Intan Baiduri 5D, Taman Intan Baiduri, Kuala Lumpur.
Tickets are RM40 for alumni club members and RM60 for normal.
