Excellent group dynamics
THE Newspaper-in-Education (NiE) contest Game4Life concluded with a grand flourish on Sept 28. But the excitement is far from over. The contest required students to craft messages in the form of Public Service Announcement (PSA) posters. This year’s theme focused on sports as a vehicle for social change.
From April through June, over 17,000 students from around the country worked to create their PSAs using either photography or illustration. These PSAs were then sent to Menara Star, Petaling Jaya, for a chance at winning the array of attractive rewards.
In the finale held last week, the grand prize winners for the secondary school category clinched a five-day study trip to Britain, sponsored by Taylor’s University. The primary school category grand prize winners won a trip to Universal Studios Singapore, courtesy of The Star.
Apart from being in the running for the grand prizes, students also competed in the prestigious state-level category, called the Outstanding Awards.
The Outstanding Awards were for PSAs that stood out in each of the 13 states and the three federal territories. This year, only nine entries made the cut for convincing messages and creative artwork.
Each award was presented by a representative from The Star, to the winning team from the said school.
These teams also received a RM100 food voucher and co-curricular certificates signed by The Star and the Education Ministry that will earn each team member co-curriculum points at the state level.
The following pages feature the nine recipient teams for the Outstanding Award. Read on to find out how they made their entries stand out from the rest.
