Jeryl grateful for support despite setback

MALAYSIAN lass Jeryl Lee Pei Ling thanked her friends and fans for their support, even though she did not top the recently concluded Sing! China reality TV singing competitio­n, Guang Ming Daily reported.

The teenager from Penang said she gave her best in the finale despite having a throat infection.

The 16-year-old, whose parents were present at the show’s finale at the Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing on Friday, sang the Disney hit Let It Go.

She was among six finalists, achieving the best ever results by a Malaysian in the competitio­n.

The children, aged between 11 and 13, were rescued when police picked up the suspects, aged 43 and 42, in Ipoh.

Sources said the children managed to bring back to the couple about RM2,400 a day from begging in Ipoh and Taiping.

The suspects only provided food and accommodat­ion to the children, who were from poor families.

The girls did not run away but stayed loyal to the couple after they were said to have been brainwashe­d into doing so.

Perak Criminal Investigat­ion Department head Senior Asst Comm Datuk Gan Tian Kee said police were investigat­ing.

> Hong Kong actor Max Mok and his Chinese wife Sun Yun Ling are divorced, China Press reported.

Quoting Hong Kong media reports, it said the 55-year-old actor would look after their five-year-old daughter.

Mok’s manager confirmed the news. Mok married Sun, 27, in 2011.
