Field young and sexy women candidates, says delegate

-

KUALA LUMPUR: A Gerakan delegate has proposed a new strategy to boost the party’s chances of winning the election – by fielding more young multicultural female candidates.

Party legal bureau chief Baljit Singh said the party should offer “younger, sexy and energetic” candidates to represent it.

Baljit also said that the party would surely lose if it put a 70-yearold candidate in the next general election.

“Why not field a woman who is beautiful, sweet, energetic, sexy, and is willing to give it her all – who is like Kak Azmar,” Baljit said at Gerakan’s 45th Annual Delegates Conference at Menara PGRM yesterday.

Baljit was referring to Gerakan lifetime member Azmar Md Alias, a grandmother who joined the party in 1985 during her heyday.

He added that some of the young female candidates would likely lose the first time they contested but this would prepare them for future elections, and to be Gerakan’s future liners.

Baljit said the strategy was simple, which was to field winnable candidates who were multiracial, women and young.

“If you can put in young girls, beliawanis, even better.

“The ripple effect is there,” he said.

He said Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong was aware of the need to field younger candidates but he had a lot to deal with at the moment.
