THE second wife of a man wrote to an advice column in Mingguan Malaysia, saying her husband would always offer excuses when it was her turn to have him at her home.

“Somehow, something would always come up when it was my turn to have him in the house. He says his children (from the first marriage) was having a fever and so on,” wrote the woman, known only as Nani.

She said prior to their marriage, her husband told her that he was a widower with two children. But after their nuptials, her in-laws told her that he had yet to divorce his first wife.

In respose to her predicament, an ustaz said it was better for a man to have just one wife if he was in no position to practise polygamy.

“If you feel that he is incapable of carrying out his duties as a polygamous husband, it will be good that you think of a better way to live your future.”

> The daughter of a Baba Nyonya couple in Seremban has been making mooncakes all year round for her largely Muslim clientele, Sinar Harian reported.

Norhaslinda Chua Abdullah, a Muslim convert, said she could sell almost 800 mooncakes weekly.

Priced between RM4 and RM6, the mooncakes are available in a variety of flavours.

The mother of three, who converted to Islam at the age of 21, said she wanted the Malay community to know about mooncakes.

“My husband is my food critic. When I started making mooncakes, he was the one who gave his comments,” said Norhaslinda, 38.

> Rock singer Awie, who married a 29-yearold woman in Songkhla, Thailand, recently paid tribute to her for her willingness to accept a single father with five children, BH Ahad reported.

“Most important of all, Lady is the choice of my children,” he said, using the nickname of his new wife Syarifah Ladyana Syed Shamsuddin.

Awie, 48, rode in a convoy of high-powered motorbikes to the wedding on Saturday.

As for Lady, she said their 19-year age gap was no hindrance to their compatibility as a couple.
