Man drugs 12-year-old girl for sex

-

ALOR SETAR: Police are on the hunt for a man who befriended a 12-year-old girl via WeChat and then had sex with her on numerous occasions after drugging her with syabu.

The 24-year-old man and the Year Six student engaged in sexual intercourse at various locations, including hotels, when he befriended her several months ago.

A preliminary police investigation also revealed that he was not the first person to have sex with the girl; other males had taken advantage of her since early this year.

Kota Setar district police chief Asst Comm Mohd Rozi Jidin said the girl claimed that the man was her boyfriend.

“She told police she was offered syabu and that he had brought her to various places, including hotels and a house, to have sex,” he told reporters yesterday.

ACP Mohd Rozi said police believed that the girl had previously befriended a few other men who also had sex with her.

He said the girl’s mother took her to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for a check-up on Sunday after finding out about her relationship with the man.

The mother lodged a police report on the same day after the hospital advised her to; new and old tears had been found at the girl’s private parts.

ACP Mohd Rozi said police raided the man’s home later in the day but failed to find him.

“We are confident of arresting him in a day or two,” he said, adding that the suspect has a criminal record for drug abuse.

He said it was hard to imagine the girl being so sexually active because she was only 12 and advised parents to keep a close eye on the activities of their children.

The girl tested positive for syabu (the local name for methamphetamine), he added.

She told police she was offered syabu and he brought her to various places to have sex. Asst Comm Mohd Rozi Jidin
