-

PUTRAJAYA: Last June, 39-year-old Nur Fadzleen Sa’don weighed 116kg, which by universal standards is considered “obese”.

Being a full-time teacher and part time PhD student meant that Nur Fadzleen had a hectic daily schedule, and the Johorean felt that her weight was putting much pressure on her lifestyle.

“To juggle work and studies in your daily schedule means that you need a lot of energy and stamina. But my weight back then was a hindrance, and it was in June when I decided that I must start losing weight,” said Nur Fadzleen in an interview.

The master teacher from SMK Bandar Baru Uda in Johor Baru then started a life-changing fitness regime which included plenty of running and a dietary change.

Today, Nur Fadzleen can proudly say that she weighs 83kg – which means she lost a whopping 33kg in four months.

And to cap her remarkable achievement, she was also crowned grand winner of the #HSNChallengeYourself competition, a weight-loss challenge held in conjunction with Hari Sukan Negara 2016.

As a grand winner, Nur Fadzleen received a RM5,000 cash prize, a Garmin HD Waterproof Action Camera, and a pair of Brooks shoes.

Three other grand winners of the competition were Mohd Rabbani Mohd Baharin (lost 8kg), 29-year-old Ezzat Afiq Md Zubir Ansori (7kg) and 38-year-old CW Normahiza CW Omar (5.5kg). Ten others received consolation prizes.

The four winners received their prizes from Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin at the ministry here yesterday.

Khairy said he hoped the participants would maintain their healthy lifestyle and not just stop after the challenge ended.

Close to 800 people took part in the social media challenge, where participants are encouraged to post their daily updates on Facebook and Twitter.
