DAP outlines challenges in wooing Johor support

-

KULAI: The DAP has outlined nine challenges in Johor to woo more support for the party in the next general election.

Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong said these were providing better water supply, public transport, housing, welfare, community security, local and district council administration, education and focusing on social and cultural aspects.

He said the party was holding discussions with other Pakatan Harapan members on seat allocation.

“Our target is to win Johor with more than 29 seats. We will work with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and others.

“But we need to come up with good ideas to convince voters to give us a chance,’’ the Kluang MP said after attending the Johor DAP convention here yesterday.

Overall, the Opposition holds 19 of the 56 state seats in Johor.

Water is a serious problem in the state with a shortage having led to disruptions and several rationing exercises.

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang (pic), who was present, said the Power Point facility used by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Parliament to table Budget 2017 should also be extended to Pakatan Harapan MPs.

“This is to enable us to present our ideas,’’ he told reporters.

Lim, who is the Gelang Patah MP, said all state legislative assemblies should also provide Power Point facilities.
