Courting trouble
Bus rams into perimeter wall of court building in Ipoh.
IPOH: A stunned Osman Abu Bakar stared blankly ahead of him after seeing an inter-city bus ram into the perimeter wall of the magistrate’s and Sessions Court building here.
The incident was devastating to the 53-year-old fire extinguisher serviceman as he lost his only mode of transport.
“I was unloading fire extinguishers from my van when I suddenly heard the loud honking of the bus.
“The driver was trying to avoid ramming into a car.
“Moments later, I saw the bus heading towards me. I quickly jumped to safety but my van was hit,” Osman said as he watched a group of tow-truck workers removing the wreckage from the scene in Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab here.
The other vehicle damaged in the 3pm incident yesterday was a Toyota Vios.
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong said a Perodua Myvi driver had slowed down his vehicle and swerved right to avoid running over an animal.
“At the same time, the 40-year-old female bus driver, who was travelling behind the car, also swerved right before ramming into the perimeter wall,” he said.
