PKNS yet to get clearance to play in the Super League

-

PETALING JAYA: PKNS FC are still in limbo as they have yet to get clearance to play in the MLeague next season.

The newly promoted Super League side still can’t get confirmation for their participation despite meeting yesterday’s registration extension given by organisers Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership ( FMLLP).

PKNS became an affiliate of the Selangor Malays Football Association ( SMFA) on Tuesday after their initial parent body – the Football Association of Selangor ( FAS) did not approve their application to play in the 2017 MLeague season.

The Football Association of Malaysia ( FAM) competition rules require a club side to be nominated and supported by a state FA in order to play in the MLeague.

FMLLP chief executive officer Kevin Ramalingam said they have received the club’s registration documents and will be forwarding it to the FAM for verification.

“PKNS have complied with the seven working days deadline and they have sent in all the required documents, including the support letter from SMFA. We have sent these documents to the national body for endorsement,” said Kevin yesterday.

“The affiliation matters come under the jurisdiction of FAM and once we receive the green light from them, PKNS will be accepted as the 12thteam in the Super League next season.”

The FMLLP’s deadline for the 2017 MLeague teams registration was on Nov 30 but PKNS were given an extension until yesterday ( Dec 9).

Nicknamed the Red Ants, PKNS won promotion to next season’s Super League after finishing second in the 12team Premier League this year.

They also reached the FA Cup final but lost 21 to Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim ( JDT).
