PETALING JAYA: Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos must not take the vigilante route in raiding illegal premises in Sekinchan as well as other areas or face the brunt of the law, says the Selangor police chief.

Comm Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said even the authorities in the country must follow laws and procedures when taking action against illegal activities, and thus Jamal must abide by the law as well.

“I would advise him to follow the normal avenues in reporting illegal activities rather than taking the law into his own hands.

“Jamal should report the matter to the proper authorities,” he said yesterday.

The Selangor top cop was responding to Jamal’s threat to bring down illegal premises if the police did not.

“If he continues to take the law into his own hands and opts to become some sort of a vigilante, then he must be prepared for the consequences.

“He must refrain from taking action against illegal premises or activities.

“The country has proper laws and regulations, he should abide by them,” warned Comm Abdul Samah.

Jamal, who is Sungai Besar Umno division chief, started going after illegal premises in Sekinchan after the local council sealed his unlicensed holiday resort last week.

He claimed that all his papers were in order and that he had applied for a licence five years ago to operate his resort, which he built on a 4ha land bought a decade ago, but received no response.

Jamal said if the council could close his premises, it should also act against other illegal operators in the area.
