Asian Tour
Josh Burack Chief executive officer
A1: For the Asian Tour, we are really excited about 2017. We are on the verge of announcing our involvement with several new tournaments in the Asia Pacific region which will expand the Asian Tour’s exposure further afield and create new playing opportunities for our talented members. Our Strategic Alliance with the European Tour which was announced last year will fully take off in 2017 and we anticipate positive developments that will impact the growth of the game here and around the world. We’ve already seen the first fruit of this partnership with a new event in the Philippines to be staged in early 2018 by the Asian Tour and European Tour.
A2: I would like to see golf stars from the Asian Tour winning Major tournaments and World Golf Championship events in 2017. Our leading players have shown in recent times that they are capable of competing at the highest level with many of our members winning big tournaments around the world. Last year, Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee won the French Open on the European Tour which was one of its biggest tournaments while Korea’s Jeunghun Wang was victorious in back-to-back events in Morocco and Mauritius. Addionally, I am rather keen to see new Asian Tour tournaments being established across the region, especially in East Asia and the emerging markets. With Asia being the focal point of the world’s economic growth, I am quietly confident we will see further growth over the next 12 months and beyond with more sponsorship investment being put into men’s pro golf.
