Mother learns of son killed in crash on FB

-

A MOTHER only knew her son was involved in a fatal road accident after reading an outpouring of condolence messages from friends on her Facebook timeline, reported Harian Metro.

“I was shaking when I saw the messages at around 9am and calmed down only after I said a prayer,” Normadiah Ahmad, 56, told the paper.

Her worst fear was confirmed when a friend told her that her son, Muhammad Syahidin Zainudin, 27, was killed on his way back from work at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport after his motorcycle was hit in Nilai at around 8.20am by a tanker.

Syahidin, who worked as part of an aircraft cleaning crew, was dragged for about 30m. He died at the scene.

Normadiah said Syahidin had only worked for two months on his new job after quitting as a mechanic at Bandar Salak Tinggi.

“He had just repaired that motorcycle three days ago. He was gone before he even got to realise his dream to open his own motorcycle workshop,” she said.

Syahidin was laid to rest at the Kampung Rawa Tengah Muslim cemetery after Asar prayers.

Nilai district police chief Supt Zaldino Zaludin said the tanker had also hit another motorcycle.

The accident caused the other motorcyclist, Muhamad Najmi Borhan, 22, and pillion rider, Muhammad Nor Nabil Razali, 21, to suffer serious injuries.

Tanker driver R. Pathmanathan, 32, was also seriously injured.

> It was a frantic three hours for Muhammad Faez Sazali when he got lost while hiking Bukit Jugra in Banting, Selangor with his friends.

“I believe I may have been ‘invisible’ because when I shouted at nearby fishermen to help me, they didn’t react. It was weird,” he told Sinar Harian.

Recalling the incident, the 20yearold supermarket employee said he had reached the peak of the hill with his friends but got separated on the way down.

“I thought I was right behind them but then realised I was struggling to keep up,” he said.

Muhammad Faez then tried to look for a way out himself when he noticed fishermen at the nearby river and shouted for help.

Finally, he decided to use his mobile phone to call for help.

Muhammad Faez was later found safe by Fire and Rescue Department personnel.

“They later told me that the fishermen did hear my calls for help but couldn’t see me.

“Only God knows what happened,” he said.
