40 nabbed for entering Sarawak illegally
KUCHING: The Immigration Department has launched a blitz against foreigners entering Sarawak illegally, with 40 arrested so far.
Director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali said the suspects, nabbed at the airport, were being held at the immigration depot.
He said the modus operandi was to switch international boarding passes for domestic ones on arrival at the airport.
“There is no passport check for domestic flights.
“Also, we are worried that they may come in with certain intentions,” he told a press conference at the Immigration headquarters here yesterday.
Mustafar declined to give details on where the suspects came from, and would only say that the investigations were in progress.
