American pips three riders to win Stage Two
PETALING JAYA: American Travis McCabe of United-HealthCare pipped three other riders at the finish line to claim victory in the Stage Two of the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL).
McCabe completed yesterday’s 208.10km race from Terengganu’s Jerteh to Grik in Perak in 5’04:41.
Italian Filippo Pozzato of Wilier Triestina was second with South African Ryan Gibbons of Dimension Data third.
All clocked the same time. The victory saw McCabe rise three rungs to second spot in the yellow jersey (overall leader) category behind Gibbons.
McCabe was delighted to win the race in his debut LTdl.
“It was not an easy race. I received stiff competition from three other riders towards the end. I’m glad to score this victory,” the Arizona native said.
Mohd Shahrul Mat Amin of Terengganu Cycling Team ( TSG) emerged as the best Malaysian rider after finishing 10th in the longest stage of this year’s Tour.
Today’s 118km Stage Three is from Serdang, Kedah, to Pantai Remis in Perak. — Bernama
