M’sian youths in Britain air views at TMI event

-

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Initiative (TMI) II event has brought together Malaysian youths living in Britain to share their ideas and aspirations for the country.

The event, launched by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri in Cardiff, served as a platform for the students and leaders to exchange views and thoughts regarding political awareness, community volunteerism and economic milieu in Malaysia.

In a statement yesterday, Nancy said she believed the event, themed “Revolutionis ing Youth, Transforming Malaysia”, could ignite the minds of the youth.

She said Transformasi Nasional 50 (or TN50), launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak recently, was not a replacement of Vision 2020 but an integral part of the continuum in the country’s development journey.

“TN50 kick-started with TN50 Conversations to engage the youth.

“The process of discussing, planning and articulating TN50 is critical to ensure that the nation is prepared beyond 2020 and this is where our youth must play their roles,” she added.

Nancy considered the relationship between the government and the youth as mutually beneficial, adding that constant co-operation between these two parties would be the perfect recipe for the advancement of the nation.

Also present were Malaysian High Commissioner to Britain and Northern Ireland Datuk Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi, Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican and Malaysia Nuclear Power Corp chief executive officer Dr Mohd Zamzam Jaafar.
