SEPANG: The Sunsuria City Celebration Centre got off to a glorious start as the first landmark in the new township located in Putrajaya South, paving the way for a host of exciting lifestyle features to benefit residents, students and visitors.

It was unveiled by Sunsuria Bhd in a two-day celebration boasting top- notch entertainment and various activities.

Sunsuria executive chairman Datuk Ter Leong Yap said the centre is named as such because there is a lot to celebrate.

“It’s not purely a sales gallery, it is a place with lifestyle features where people in the community can come to enjoy their time.

“It is also where students, artists and young startups can have a platform to express themselves and grow,” he said in an interview before the launch yesterday.

Also present at the ceremony were Malaysia-China Business Council chairman Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting and Sunsuria chief executive officer Koong Wai Seng.

Ter said the developer aspires to create an intelligent and sustainable city where people can connect with a Sunsuria app that will eventually be created to support this concept.

As the city is built to surround the Xiamen University Malaysia Campus, Ter said it is a catalyst that drives Sunsuria to provide the most current living features.

“With the growing community and increasing number of students the university will be serving, we spent time to think of what living environment we want to have.

“We want to put life and culture into the whole of Sunsuria City, and the celebration centre is the starting point,” he noted.

Measuring about 2.8ha wide, the centre houses Sunsuria City’s 1,858sq m flagship sales gallery while it also serves as a venue for community gatherings and celebrations.

The centre has its own cafes, a festivities arena, a sensory garden, bicycle rental facilities and the Le Park route that connects to the Salak Tinggi ERL station.

The total development cost for the centre is RM25mil.

As befitting the exciting qualities of the development, a star-studded concert was held to celebrate the launch, with performances by Malaysian artistes Fish Leong, Datuk Sheila Majid and Ah Niu, violinist Dennis Lau, and South Korean pop stars Block B Bastarz.

The celebration spreads over the weekend, with activities such as street performances, stage games, food trucks and vendors, and live performances open to the public.

Singer-songwriter Reza Salleh, artiste Juwei, dance troupes from Astro Battleground and the students of Xiamen University Malaysia will be performing today.
