Trainees represent Malaysia at skills fest
TWO trainees from the Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM) will be representing Malaysia at the World Skills Competition (WSC) in Abu Dhabi from Oct 14 to 19.
Their participation in WSC 2017 is a testament to their success and achievements at the World Skills Malaysia Competition that was held in October 2015.
The two ABM trainees are Marinsun Lanun, 21 ,from ABM Sabah, and Muhammad Zulkifli Sahdan, 20, from ABM Johor.
They will be representing Malaysia at the Wall & Floor Tiling, and Painting & Decorating category respectively.
“I am confident that the representatives from Malaysia are capable of bringing back medals for their respective categories,” said Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia chief executive
and ABM chairman Datuk Ahmad ‘Asri Hamid.
As a token of appreciation and a form of motivation, CIDB Malaysia, through CIDB Holdings, awarded RM3,000 and a Malaysian flag to the duo during the International Construction Week 2017, held from April 10 to 14.
WSC is held once every two years and is the world’s largest vocational education and skills excellence competition.
For this year representatives from 77 countries will be competing in 51 skill categories.
The CIDB was established under the Construction Industry Development Act to develop the capacity and capability of the construction industry through enhancement of quality and productivity by placing greater emphasis on professionalism, innovation and knowledge in the endeavour to improve the quality of life.
