PKR to discuss fate of PAS exco trio

PETALING JAYA: PKR’s political bureau will discuss the fate of the three PAS exco members at its next meeting, said Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

The Selangor Mentri Besar did not, however, say when the meeting would take place.

The three PAS exco members – Datuk Iskandar Samad, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Zaidy Abdul Talib – face being thrown out of the state government after their party ended its political ties with PKR.

Azmin, who returned yesterday from a working visit to Germany, said he had received a phone call from PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as soon as he arrived at the KL International Airport.

Anwar, he said, wanted him to keep the door open for further discussions with PAS.

He said he had also received official word from the PAS lead ership that its deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man wanted to meet to discuss matters.

From the very beginning, Azmin said PKR’s position was to be open to any discussion.

“But certainly I need to report and discuss with my party leaders first before proceeding with any other meeting,” he told reporters after opening PKR’s women and youth wings’ annual convention here last night.

Asked when he would meet with PAS, Azmin said: “The date is not important. What is important is that we discuss and win the election.”

On the rumour going that a former PKR member was joining PAS along with several PKR elected representatives to shake up his administration, Azmin said the Selangor government was stable.

Earlier in his speech, he also warned individuals and groups out to create trouble for the Selangor state government not to push their luck.
