MCA Youth chief says he has plans to help them on cost of living

SEREMBAN: MCA Youth chief Datuk Chong Sin Woon, who is widely tipped to contest the Seremban parliamentary seat in the next general election, has plans to help folk in the state capital tackle cost of living issues.

“I experienced the high cost of living in Kuala Lumpur after graduating from university, and working and living there.

“I know it’s not going to be easy to keep the cost of living in Seremban low but I have thought out plans on how this can be done,” he said.

Speaking at the launch of Se remban MCA’s service centre on Thursday night, Chong also repeatedly reminded the crowd to address him simply as “Ah Chong”.

He expressed happiness at seeing many younger people at the event.

“People used to say that only older people supported Barisan Nasional.

“But your presence here tonight clearly shows that the younger voters are with us too,” he added.

Although touted as Barisan’s candidate to be the Seremban MP, Chong pledged to support anyone nominated by the coalition.

He also urged the electorate here to do likewise.

“Only the Prime Minister can decide who will contest here.

“All I can say is that the wind direction has changed in Barisan’s favour and we will support whoever is nominated by the Barisan leadership,” said Chong, who is from nearby Nilai.

The Seremban seat has been traditionally contested by the MCA, which lost the seat to the DAP in 2008 and failed to wrest it in the 2013 polls.

Chong also hailed the state administration led by Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, saying that the Mentri Besar has done much for the state, particularly for Seremban.

“If nominated, I will do my best and ensure the wellbeing of the people,” he said, adding that he would, however, refrain from making unrealistic promises.

“But I will be here for you and we shall work together to make Seremban the best place to live in the country,” he said.

Also present at the launch were state Barisan component party leaders.
