> Vet foodstuff

The veterinary and health authorities should ensure all foodstuff imported to cater for the Ramadan celebrations is safe and of good quality. Beef imported from India should undergo strict food safety inspection protocols to ensure its safety. One too many illegal slaughter houses is said to have emerged after the strict ban on cattle slaughter in India lately. – S. Param

> Sad sight

It is really incredible that in this age and time when the nation seems to be progressing so well, we still have families so poor that they have to dwell under a flyover. We can only pray that these families are given proper accommodation by the authorities concerned without further delay. – William Ong

> Get corrupt heads

I support strongly Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye’s suggestion that all heads of department from the top to the bottom should declare their assets, even ministers. Here nobody is above the law. Maybe this will be the start to fight corruption. – Putri Ayu, Kajang

> Good Samaritans

There are still some kind hearts around as I found out when my motorbike ran out of petrol on Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah in Penang on Wednesday. A young woman stopped to help push and even offered to buy petrol. Another guy, whom I got to know later as “Mamu Parpu”, used his leg to propel my bike to the petrol kiosk. I’m touched. God bless them. – Samy

> New movies, please!

Dear RTM people, thank you for the weekly Hindi and Tamil movies on TV2. But for heaven’s sake, please stop repeating the same movie a hundred times and please show some new ones too. – A.S.

> Save us from scalpers

Ticket scalpers have put a damp squib on Ed Sheeran’s concert here by hawking the tickets online at exorbitant prices. A friend of mine and his son queued up at a music outlet in Mid Valley only to discover a measly seven tickets were sold. There should be a more equitable distribution of tickets in outlets nationwide. Ed is no Beatle but he is still a big draw. Do not make us wait like captives in a “castle on the hill” until his next tour. – 5th Beatle

> All-out war on vice

The Government should go all out to wipe out vices like illegal money game operators, illegal casinos, illegal 4D forecast games and illegal football betting. These operators are laughing all the way to the bank while investors and punters lose their hard-earned money. Some end up with broken families when they’re unable to pay money borrowed from Ah Long. – Karen
