KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with the opening of Phase 2 of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) line on Monday, Pos Malaysia Bhd will come out with the popular train-themed series featuring the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT).

The collection will feature three stamps, consisting of a se-tenant stamp displaying MRT train and MRT feeder bus (60 sen), elevated stations (80 sen) and MRT train with passengers (90 sen).

The MRT SBK line is the first of the three Klang Valley MRT projects to be completed.

Pos Malaysia stamp and philately unit head Diyana Lean Abdullah said a new stamp collection would be issued for each completed MRT line.

“Stamps are like the ambassadors of our country.

“We can promote Malaysia and inform others about our country’s development,” said Diyana Lean.

Pos Malaysia group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh urged the peo- ple, especially stamp collectors, to act fast due to its limited number of copies.

“There are only 304,000 pieces of the MRT train and feeder bus stamps and 132,000 pieces for the other two editions,” said Mohd Shukrie to the media yesterday.

There are also miniature sheets priced at RM5.30 a piece which features the perspective view of an MRT train on the tracks.

Other philatelic products up for sale include first day covers with free brochures and a complete folder set.

The complete folder set which contains 20 pieces of the three stamps, brochure, and FDC can be obtained for RM69.85.
