Accident case turns out to be gangland murder

-

PETALING JAYA: An accident case took a sinister turn when investigations showed that it was in fact a murder.

It all started on June 30, when a 34yearold man was found injured near a shop in Kota Kemuning and was rushed to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang.

“He was covered in blood and his injuries were quite serious. But he was still conscious.

“During investigations, he was uncooperative and we thought that (the injuries) were from an accident.

“Then on July 3, the victim died. The postmortem report showed that his injuries were inflicted,” said Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Shafien Mamat at a press conference at the Shah Alam police headquarters.

The cause of death is believed to have been an attack with a sharp object.

Initial investigations into the victim’s identity showed a laundry list of past crimes, with 14 criminal and drugrelated offences.

A police task force questioned the victim’s girlfriend and it was learnt that the man was involved in a spat prior to him being found injured.

“On July 21, we arrested the first suspect who has six previous convictions. Then at 5.30pm at a petrol station along the Kesas highway, we made the second arrest.

“We also seized a car that is believed to have been used during the fight,” said ACP Shafien.

A third arrest was made on July 24 at about 6pm. All three suspects are in their 30s. The remand for the suspects will end on Aug 4.

“Investigations showed that the murder was the result of a territorial dispute,” said ACP Shafien.

He confirmed that the suspects and victim were involved in gangs.
