PUTRAJAYA: The charge sheet was so long it took hours to read it out – and it could not be finished before the court adjourned. The man pleaded not guilty but hung his head low.

The unit trust agent is now being called a “monster dad”. He is alleged to have sodomised and raped his teen daughter more than 200 times in the first three months of this year.

According to the charge sheet, he is said to have sexually assaulted her several times a day.

It took the court several hours yesterday to read out the charges against him.

The special court for sexual crimes against children had to operate beyond its normal hours just so the 182 charges could be read out by 6pm. He pleaded not guilty but he hung his head low most of the time. Another 400 over charges involving sodomy are expected to be read out to the 36-year-old man today.

The father of three is alleged to have sexually assaulted his eldest daughter, 15, in their apartment from January to March this year.

It is learnt that the man was divorced two years ago and had custody of the victim. Two other younger daughters are staying with their mother.

Of the charges read out so far, 150 counts were for sodomy allegedly committed between Jan 1 and 19 and the whole month of March this year.

He allegedly sodomised the girl three times a day at their home in Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya, between 6am and 7am, from 1pm to 2pm and between 11pm and 12.30am.

On this charge, he was accused under Section 377C of the Penal Code which provides a maximum of 20 years’ of imprisonment and shall also be liable to whipping, upon conviction.

The man also faces a charge of committing incest on July 21 at 2pm and is accused under Section 376A of the same Code and punishable under Section 376B(1) of the Code.

The divorcee was also accused of 30 counts of physical sexual assault without intercourse from July 11 to 20 and was charged under Section 14/16 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

He also faces a charge of abusing, neglecting and sexually abusing the child between Jan 1 and July 21. The charge falls under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2016 and is punishable under Section 31(1)(b) of the Act.

Clad in a grey T-shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans, he was brought to the courthouse at about 8.45am in a police patrol car.

He entered the courtroom at 9am but the charges were only read to him at 2.50pm as the court officials spent hours sorting things out. The charges were read out to him in stages after the registration was completed.

Sessions judge Yong Zarida Sazali stood the case down three times. It began at 2.50pm and was stood down at 3.25pm; it started again at 4.20pm and was stood down at 5.15pm and the court finally resumed at 5.35pm until 6pm.

During the entire day, none of his family members was present in court.

Deputy public prosecutor Nordalina Ali asked that the man be denied bail for fear that he would intimidate the victim.

DPP Nordalina said the accused was detained at the apartment where the offence was allegedly committed.

She said she was worried he would harass the girl and her mother, who lodged the police report against the man.

Pleading for bail, the man said he needed to support his parents and to pay his car monthly instalment. Judge Yong Zarida refused bail and fixed today to continue the prosecution proceedings.
