Viet duo caught stealing 80 chickens

-

TWO Vietnamese men were caught stealing chickens from a nearby farm, Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported.

Police stormed a single-storey terrace house in Taman Choot Ching Khoon in Simpang Ampat, Penang, and recovered 80 chickens at about 2pm on Tuesday.

The chickens were placed on top of a modified rack in a dirty room.

Apparently, the duo sold them to foreign workers at a cheaper price.

South Seberang Prai OCPD Supt Shafee Abdul Samad said the suspects were in their 20s.

“A third accomplice is still at large,” he added.

> A businesswoman in Singapore boosted her sales by 70% after she started selling nasi lemak with lobster, China Press reported.

Despite the slightly higher price, the meal, which is sold at S$22 (RM69), has received overwhelming response from Singaporeans and foreigners.

Sarena Talib sells 18 to 30 plates daily.

The 45-year-old woman said she got the idea from the brisk sales of the seafood stall next to hers.

“The variety of food sold at the stall is not cheap, but it still draws huge crowds during lunch time.

“That was when I decided to match the luxury ingredient to the traditional food,” she said.

She also sells nasi lemak with salmon, crayfish and cuttlefish.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that a woman in Changde city, China, was arrested for putting rat poison in her husband’s food.

The 41-year-old woman held a grudge against her husband after he scolded her mother using vulgarities a month ago.

The wife then bought three bottles of rat poison and mixed them with some fried eggs that she cooked for her husband.

However, the man felt something was amiss due to the weird taste of the eggs.

The woman admitted to the deed after her husband lodged a police report.
