Unstable youth throws fridge off condo’s 13th floor

-

A 30kg two-door fridge was thrown off the balcony of a unit on the 13th floor of a condominium in Desa Pantai, Kuala Lumpur, reported Harian Metro.

The fridge landed in the parking lot, narrowly missing some motorcycles.

Condominium resident Azmi Aziz, 40, said he thought somebody had committed suicide when he heard a loud crash.

“I thought someone had fallen from one of the balconies,” said Azmi.

During the 5pm incident on Wednesday, some Astro satellite dishes and air-conditioning units were damaged when the fridge fell.

“Thankfully, no one was hurt,” said Azmi.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Roslan Khalid said initial investigations showed that a 20-year-old mentally unstable man had thrown the fridge from the balcony.

“The suspect is not under remand. Instead, he will undergo mental evaluation in a hospital over the next four days,” he said.

> Actress Tania Hudson is ready to accept criticism for her latest role in the film Abang Long Fadil 2, Utusan Malaysia reported.

The Malay-English beauty said she was both excited and nervous as this was her first time in a lead role. She plays Yana, a TV reporter on an investigative assignment.

“I am aware that my acting will be scrutinised and criticised by people. As long as I am still in this industry, I am willing to accept criticism and learn from it. I have given my best for the role,” she said.

Hudson underwent surgery in 2009 to cure a condition known as arteriovenous malformation, which caused her blood vessels to grow abnormally and in a tangle.

Abang Long Fadil 2 will hit the theatres on Aug 24.

> Harian Metro also reported that a man was beaten up by a group of residents in Kampung Kubang Menerong, Tasek Gelugor, Penang, after he and his girlfriend were caught red-handed trying to steal a gold ring.

During the 9am incident on Wednesday, the 21-year-old and his 18-year-old girlfriend had broken into the house of an elderly woman in the village.

He then hit the 70-year-old victim with a stick while she was in the midst of changing her clothes. However, the victim managed to escape and screamed for help, causing neighbours to rush to her aid.

When the neighbours demanded that the couple explain themselves, the woman could not say anything. The residents then beat up the boyfriend, a recording of which was later uploaded on social media.
