Cops hunting down suspects who tied up youth in estate
ALOR SETAR: Police are hunting down the suspects who tied up a youth and left him in a rubber estate in Kampung Kura in Sik district.
Acting Padang Terap OCPD Asst Supt Mohd Radzuan Othman said preliminary investigation revealed that a few individuals tied up the victim, identified only as Chatri, after a friend dropped him off at the estate last Sunday night.
“The victim knew the suspects and we are hunting them down. We are still ascertaining the motive of the incident.
“The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt,” he said yesterday.
Chatri, 21, was found with both his hands and legs tied up with ropes and iron chains in the estate at 10.30pm last Monday by the father of one of his friends, who subsequently called his father.
Chatri’s father rushed to the scene, about 40km from their house in Naka, and found his bound son with bruises all over his body.
ASP Mohd Radzuan said Chatri was sent to the Kuala Nerang Hospital for treatment before he was transferred to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital here.
Chatri’s mother, who declined to be named, said she still did not know why her son got tied up in such a way.
“He is still not fully conscious. We believe it is due to the trauma he suffered from the incident,” she said when met at the hospital.
