Sivasangari looking forward to PSA Tour after two-gold haul

-

National squash player S. Sivasangari is brimming with confidence after her two-gold haul at the KL SEA Games.

The Kedahan partnered Sanjay Singh Chal to win the mixed doubles gold before beating senior and defending champion Rachel Arnold to the women’s singles gold.

Sivasangari, who also led Malaysia to a runner-up finish at the World Junior Team Championship in July, is now looking to get back up to speed on the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour.

The 18-year-old has not played a PSA tournament since the Women’s World Championship in April due to her final year exams in June.

That has seen her slip to No. 61 in the world.

“It was quite a memorable first SEA Games for me because I never thought I’d finished with two gold medals,” said Sivasangari.

“It was tough against Rachel in the singles final. We’re teammates and we train together everyday, so it’s tough luck for her. “But I’m glad I won.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back on the PSA Tour.”

Sivasangari, who has six PSA titles to her name, will compete in the Nantes Open from Sept 4-10. She will start from the qualifying rounds.

After that, she’ll compete in the Malaysian Tour Squash Circuit ( SSJM) at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil from Sept 19- 22.
