Uniten, Kazakhstan varsity renew ties
UNIVERSITI Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) has signed a memorandum of understanding for another five years with the International University of Information Technologies (IITU), Kazakhstan to renew its existing academic cooperation.
The two institutions previously signed an MoU in March 2010 to work together in several areas including the exchange of students and academic staff.
There was also cooperation in research and teaching as well as the exchange of publications and academic work and the development of programmes.
The intention to renew the MoU was finalised by the senior management from both sides on Jan 1 this year, for another five years.
The Higher Education Ministry’s deputy secretary-general (Development) Datuk Nik Ali Mat Yunus said that he hoped the MoU would strengthen the relationship between the two sides at the signing of the MoU in Astana, Kazakhstan in conjunction with the 2017 Astana Expo.
The agreement was signed by Uniten deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Prof Dr Mohd
Zamri Yusoff and International Information Technology University rector Prof Dr Damir Shynybekov.
At the same event, Uniten launched its Alumni Uniten for its latest international alumni.
The university previously launched this in Indonesia in 2013 followed by Saudia Arabia and United Arad Emirates in March this year.
There are 21 Uniten alumni from Kazakhstan. Askar Alimkhanov has been appointed president of the Malaysia Alumni Council of Kazakhstan.
