Tanjung Malim now a booming town, thanks to Govt’s efforts
TANJUNG MALIM: The Government’s efforts to turn Tanjung Malim into a pioneer 1Malaysia Youth City (1MYC) has succeeded in transforming the quiet town into a vibrant centre of development.
Tanjung Malim has already experienced a boom with the opening of the manufacturing plant for the national car Proton, which brought jobs to the local community.
Teacher Nur Emilia Azmi, 35, said the town’s dynamic development met the needs of youths and was helping to reduce migration to bigger towns.
“The Government’s initiative to develop the district will give youths more employment, entrepreneurship and skills opportunities,” she told Bernama here recently.
Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris student Norsiana Nasir, 25, said the town’s development was also a boon for youths.
She said a food truck festival and an art hub called “The Nest” exposed students to entrepreneurship and new skills.
“Music students are now putting on presentations at The Nest to obtain better grades.
“I have also been there to pick up cooking skills and customer service tips,” said the final-year Technical and Vocational Faculty Living Skills student. — Bernama
