Brazilian Pereira inks new two-year deal with Devils
LONDON: Andreas Pereira has penned a new two-year deal with Manchester United.
The Brazilian made a deadline day move to Valencia on loan but he has now committed his future to United.
Pereira is now tied to Old Trafford until 2019 with the option of an additional 12 months.
Jose Mourinho told the club’s official website: “Andreas is already a very good footballer.
“He is a young player with great natural ability and a good attitude towards continuing his development.
“I have no doubt that he has the potential to be one of the future great players of this club.”
Pereira joined United at the age of 16 and has risen through the ranks and made 13 first-team appearances.
He spent last season on loan at Spanish club Granada where he scored five times in 25 appearances.
And the former PSV Eindhoven midfielder revealed he is desperate to continue his development and break into Mourinho’s first-team plans.
Pereira said: “I am delighted that I have extended my contract with this great club.
“The manager is building a great team here and I want to be part of that as soon as possible.
“I am going to continue my development at Valencia this season in the hope that I will get plenty of minutes on the pitch.
“I would like to thank the manager for his help and guidance and for the faith he has shown in me.” — The Sun, London
