Push for sale of auto spare parts in China

-

NANNING: Automotive spare parts, healthcare and wellness products are the next wave of Malaysian goods that will be promoted in China, said International Trade and Industry Minister II Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan.

He said this followed the success of introducing Malaysian food products like durian, bird’s nest and coffee to China.

China, being the biggest auto market with sales of 28 million vehicles last year, has a high demand for automotive spare parts, Ong said.

“China imports a lot of our electronic components and now, we are pushing to export our car spare parts to them,” he said after opening Malaysia’s pavilion at the 14th China-Asean Expo here yesterday.

He also encouraged companies involved in medical services, wellness and healthcare industry to venture into the vast Chinese market.

Ong said Malaysia’s robust trade with China recorded stunning dou- ble-digit growth of 28% in the first half of this year compared with the same period last year.

He noted that bilateral trade between both countries amounted to RM139.32bil.

“This strong performance of our exports is proof that China’s market is not saturated but has huge growth potential,” he added.

Some 171 Malaysian firms are showcasing their products at the expo at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
