Chalets to shut for repair works
PETALING JAYA: Tourism Selangor Sdn Bhd, which manages the Sungai Congkak Recreational Forest resort in Hulu Langat, has decided to close the 14 chalets at the resort for a month for repair work after they were found to be in poor condition.
In a statement on Wednesday, the company said it viewed seriously a complaint from a family about the dilapidated condition of a chalet there and will be undertaking the necessary remedial measures to ensure the guests are comfortable.
“Upon initial investigations, we regrettably found the chalets to be in poor condition,” it added.
mStar Online reported on Tuesday the family’s predicament that the RM400-a-night bungalow which they rented turned out to be poorly maintained and not safe.
One of them, who wanted to be known only as Emma, took to social media to complain about the condition of the bungalow.
“Pictures of the bungalow in the advertisement look pleasant, but when we arrived, it was dilapidated. Was someone murdered in this house?” she wrote.
The 44-year-old housewife said the bungalow was not only rundown, but the inside was dusty and the ceiling and walls were mouldy.
She said the purpose of her sharing the bad experience was not to bring down any party but rather to ensure other visitors would be spared from the same bizarre experience her family went through.
Tourism Selangor said it had personally apologised to the complainant and would compensate the family for the inconvenience caused.
The closure will not affect the Sungai Congkak Recreational Forest that underwent a clean-up and maintenance work recently, it added.
